Living in Carlton

The vibrant inner-city suburb of Carlton has long served as a major student hub. Conveniently placed between the CBD and UniMelb's main campus, it offers easy access to all the most popular student destinations — though there's plenty to explore within Carlton itself.

Lygon Street (Melbourne's "Little Italy") cuts through the heart of the neighbourhood and is known all over the city for its old-school trattorias and pizzerias. The nightlife scene is fantastic, too, with Fitzroy's live music venues and the CBD's rooftop bars within walking distance.
